THE LESOTHO DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER, HON. MOTHETJOA METSING VISITS THE UNITED KINGDOM AND DECLARES THAT LESOTHO IS OPEN FOR BUSINESS

The Deputy Prime Minister of Lesotho, Hon. Mothetjoa Metsing led a delegation of Lesotho government and business officials to the United Kingdom on 5 April, 2016 to 

form and participate in the Lesotho Investment Forum that was hosted by the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC).

Being a crucial event for its investment lead generation strategy, the Lesotho Investment Forum routinely takes place and the purpose of these Investment Forums are to increase awareness of investment opportunities and to encourage investment in Lesotho.

There were many areas of discussion, especially on the numerous planned projects and the developments of present ongoing projects in Lesotho such as:

-          Electricity Generation Programme

Lesotho is deficient in power generation and to make improvements, this programme aims improve the electricity supply in the country by the construction of electricity generation plants.

-          National Broadband Network  (NBN) Initiative

The Lesotho National Development Corporation (LNDC) being responsible for this ongoing project strongly emphasises that there’s a correlation between a countries widely available broadband internet access availability and increased job creation and Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

These were only just the few topics that were up for discussion at the Lesotho Investment Forum of 2016. It was concluded that the Lesotho Investment Forum was a success and already there has been keen UK based investors making enquires.
