CHILDREN ENJOY ROYAL CATERING FROM THEIR MAJESTIES
Children under the care of Sisters of Charity Centre for the Poor and Less Privileged enjoyed a royal catering when they were served meals by their Majesties King Letsie III and Queen 'Masenate Mohato Seeiso at the centre on Thursday.
The activity was part of the day's programme to present gifts to the centre as well as to celebrate Christmas time with children.
As they put on their maroon and white striped aprons preparing to serve meals, Their Majesties attracted attention of adults and children who gathered at the centre as this was a rare opportunity to see them (Their Majesties) in their aprons in public.
In his remarks before serving the meals, His Majesty commended the Sisters of Charity for providing care, love and support to children despite the challenges they face.
He urged children to explore educational opportunities they have to become responsible citizens of the country.
His Majesty King Letsie III appreciated the gifts donated by Econet Telecom Lesotho to the centre, saying the gesture is a sign of commitment to contribute towards the welfare of the poor and less privileged children.
He challenged other companies through their corporate social responsibility to support disadvantaged communities.
His Majesty also asked God to bless the sisters for the role they play to model children to become responsible citizens of the country.
Sharing the same sentiments, the Econet Telecom Lesotho Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Nico Heyns said the event reminded him of what life is really about.
''What we are doing today in good fellowship is what life is all about,'' he emphasised.
Mr. Heyns also commended the care givers for the good work they do, saying children should remember that when they are grown-up and holding senior positions, there are basic values in life.
In her thanksgiving remarks, Sister Clara Rakhomo thanked Their Majesties as well as the management of Econet Telecom Lesotho for visiting and donating clothes, food stuff and sleeping madrases to the centre wishing that the partnership could grow from strength to strength.
The Centre was established in 2000 by the Sisters of charity to provide care and support to orphans, poor and less privileged children.
Currently the centre has 117 children of which 72 are accommodated at the centre while the rest are being taken care of at their respective homes.
